About
Hajlított Fa Manufaktúra (Bent Wood Manufactory) knows no impossible: unique modern luxury designer wood furniture, railings and custom woodwork designed and produced in excellent quality in Budapest and Pest County. We specialise in bending wood into elegant forms that defy expectation — fluid curves that seem to contradict the very nature of timber.
Company story
The manufactory was born from a fascination with steam-bending, a centuries-old technique that Hungary's Thonet heritage made world-famous. The founders trained in traditional bent-wood methods before pushing the craft into contemporary territory: free-form staircases that spiral without visible supports, sculptural railings that flow like ribbons, and furniture pieces where structure and ornament become one. Operating from a purpose-built workshop in Gyömrő, the team combines steam chambers, CNC-assisted jigs and meticulous hand-finishing. Architects and interior designers across Central Europe commission Hajlított Fa for projects that demand the seemingly impossible.

Reference projects
Spiral Staircase — Budapest Penthouse
A free-standing spiral staircase in steam-bent ash connecting two floors of a Danube-view penthouse. The continuous handrail was bent from a single 9 m strip of ash, with each baluster individually shaped to follow the helix. Installed in collaboration with a structural engineer.
Reception Desk — Design Hotel Gyömrő
An organically curved reception counter in laminated beech with an integrated LED light strip. The flowing form was achieved through multi-layer vacuum lamination, creating a seamless 4.5 m arc without joints.
